Is Kindness So Rare?

I am seeing a lot of posts on social media lately from people who are pointing out that they spent the day smiling at people in an effort to show kindness. Some write that they were polite in traffic, or that when an old lady needed help, they helped her. While I applaud this behavior and think it’s wonderful, it also saddens me to think that someone smiles at others so seldomly that it becomes noteworthy, or remarkable. When did these behaviors become so rare that it’s something that we share with pride and hashtag as if we just lost 20 pounds after months of effort? Should not these things be normal, everyday behavior?

Be kind whenever possible

I have yet to see a post where someone declared with pride that they put on deodorant or brushed their teeth. Unless, of course, they are kidding or have been very ill. Why? Because these are normal behaviors, at least for the majority. lol

I ask myself, why does it makes me happy that others are bringing the importance of simple kindness to the forefront of our awareness while I have never once given someone, aside from my son when he was 3, a pat on the back for having brushed their teeth or gotten dressed.

This leaves me with mixed feelings about personally posting about how amazing I feel because I decided to be a kind person today. Should I not be a kind person every day? Should smiling at people, helping the older woman at the gas station, or simply giving a stranger a kind word, be so rare that it’s post worthy? To me this is as normal as putting on clothes before I go outside. Should I start posting about that too?

Any of us can only speak for ourselves and from our own unique and beautiful perspective. For me, I have never found kindness rare. I smile at people all the time and they always smile back. I’ve always done my best to be kind to others and people have been overly generous with me. So many times I’ve been told that I live a charmed life. I’ve had unbelievably challenging obstacles and humongous opportunities for growth as I like to call them, yet I have lived a charmed life, because I believe that life is charmed.

When I feel something is lacking in the world, it almost always means that the same thing is lacking in me. I have found the world is a reflection of what I am thinking and feeling.

Bah Humbug Part 2

I had just woke from a dream featuring the ghost of a much younger me. It seemed I was jolted out of the first dream as quickly as I slid right into its continuation.

… With that the girl was gone, my husband was still in his chair, which was no longer vibrating and Ebenezer Scrooge was looking quite pale. I reflected for a moment on this dream or vision I had, feeling something new. Feeling a glow of self-love that was stronger than I had ever felt before and I thought isn’t this the best Christmas gift ever?

Smiling, I looked back over to my left and now saw my twin, an identical version of me at my current age. I thought, this is so cool. I had always wanted a twin! Of course that was mostly in high school so she could take the classes I didn’t want to. (Yes, I imagined her liking all the classes I didn’t.)

“Hey” I said. “Look at us. We are doing great, aren’t we?”

“No,” she said quite seriously.

Already I was liking the younger version of me a lot better.

I ran through the check list of all that I had to be grateful for. Wonderful husband, great family, fantastic friends, nice home…

“It’s not about you or us. It’s about them.”

With that, she took my hand and I was able to see into homes. Some were homes of people I knew. Some were homes of people I have yet to meet. Each of these homes had one thing in common. There were people in pain inside those home. They were locked in the vicious circle of negative thoughts creating a negative life and didn’t know how to get out.

Immediately I started defending myself. “I try to set a good example. I try to deliver the message of how important it is to transform your thoughts.”

“Are you doing all you can?”

I didn’t answer and that in itself was the answer.

“Why not?” I demanded of myself.

“What do I have to say that is so unique? It’s all been said before, so how am I supposed to make such a big difference?”

Giving Hands

Her answer was simple. “You make a difference by giving. The more you give, the greater the difference you make. Never doubt yourself. Instead, think about why we need to do more and give more. There are others who need us, and let that will give you courage. You are braver than you know and smarter than you think. If you ever hear the voice of doubt, always remember how much they need us and just shout at that stupid old voice, “Bah Humbug!”

Awake once more, I looked over at my husband, still sleeping in the massage chair, and thought, “I don’t remember drinking that much eggnog.”

Then I reflected on the message the dream delivered to me. I knew that if I looked at the past with loving memories and had forgiven myself and others, I would be free of the doubt and regret that could come to mind too often, distracting me from the wonderful present that I truly was grateful for. I also knew now, that when I was giving to others, I felt good and stayed in the now. This increased my appreciation for all I had and feel deep gratitude for what I was experiencing in the moment.

If I could stop worrying about the future, I knew I would feel the freedom of enjoying and basking in every glorious moment of every day. When I fell back asleep with that on my mind, I learned so much about confidence and trusting in the future when I was visited by my Ghost of the Future. How to Be More Successful through Gratitude – The 5 Principles of Prosperity: Principle Two ~

If you wish to learn how to be successful, how to be wealthy or how to prosper, you will need to immerse yourself in gratitude and the continual practice of it. This is the second step in The 5 Principles of Prosperity.

In the epic book on riches, The Science of Getting Rich, Wallace D. Wattles also feels the second step to being able to get anything you want is by entertaining a lively and sincere gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon you. This book is still a bestseller for a reason. He is right. He speaks of having a constant feeling of gratitude or what I call “living in a state of gratitude.”

FACT: Everything is energy.

  • All “matter” as science calls it, is created from energy and takes on different sizes, shapes, and colors.
  • All energy vibrates at a particular rate or frequency.
  • We as people vibrate at a particular frequency.
  • Our emotions vibrate at different frequencies and will affect the frequency at which our physical beings vibrate.
  • Wealth and poverty both vibrate at much different frequencies with poverty being a low vibration and wealth projecting a much higher vibrational rate.
  • When it comes to vibrational frequencies, you will attract that which vibrates at the same frequency as your emotional state.

 

This is why it is imperative for you to practice maintaining emotions that will allow you to vibrate at the highest frequencies if you are to have the superpower of manifesting an extraordinary life. Gratitude, love and compassion are among the feelings you can place your thoughts on that will raise you to the highest levels of attraction.

  • Set your phone to alert you every hour. When you hear the reminder write down something you are grateful for or think of someone you love.
  • Keep pictures of those you love around you at work and at home.
  • Volunteer
  • Assume the best in people, especially when they are a stranger and do things like cut you off on the road. You never know what they are going through and don’t let rude behavior, whether on purpose or not, be a buzz kill.
  • Count your blessings. Seriously…

While I lay out the steps to getting all you want in life in The 5 Principles of Prosperity, the key is to maintain these feelings of gratitude, love, and compassion all day. It’s great to wake up with gratitude and go to bed with gratitude, yet it will be so much more effective when you LIVE in gratitude.

Transform Your Thoughts ~ Transcend Your Life

We have heard countless phrases and sayings that share the principle that when you think positive thoughts you will get positive outcomes. Deep down inside, we know this is true. When we have been happy and expected great things to happen, they have. When we opt to see the best in a person or situation, we feel better and get better results.

But it is not easy to stay focused on the upside and have faith in things to come when the evidence cannot be seen. Our subconscious mind takes over and starts feeding us with reasons to give up on ourselves and our dreams. The voice of doubt seems to have a life of its own and that monkey on our shoulder is chattering in a constant drone.

It’s not your fault. Years and years of hearing about our limitations, being told we can’t do things and all our negative experiences can leave us with a belief system that is weak at best.

The good news is you can change all that!

It just takes practice, like with anything else. If you want to learn a foreign language, play a new instrument or develop any new skill, it takes practice to get good at it and daily practice to excel at it.

If you make it a priority to develop the skill of selecting the thoughts that will make you feel good and help you move towards your goals, you will find that everything in life gets easier. You will feel a sense of tranquility, knowing that your future will give you whatever you want. It will be accompanied with a feeling of excitement, because it’s almost like having magical powers when you are able to manifest almost instantly.
I have found five principles that will allow you to be as prosperous as you wish, when you take the time to practice and apply them in your life. The key is repetition. I will provide you with an overview today and expand on each principle in later posts. This is important information because when you learn to select thoughts that nourish your soul and further your goals, you will be unstoppable. The attitude, gratitude, clarity, focus and action you take will have people signing up to be on your team. Each of these are simple truths, yet unless you strengthen these skills, they will not help you.

The 5 Principles of Prosperity

1 Create Strong Beliefs – You get what you believe you can get. Developing the skill of selecting empowering thoughts is critical to all happiness, success, prosperity and abundance because your beliefs are created by your thoughts.

2 Keep Your Vibration High – You attract things that vibrate at the same frequency you do. Practicing gratitude, meditation and other actions that will keep your vibration high is imperative because the higher your vibration, the easier and faster you will attract high vibration people, situations and opportunities.

3 Get Clear – Your degree of clarity is directly proportional to the speed and ease with which you accomplish your goals and obtain your desires. You can only get what you ask for. Be as detailed as possible.

4 Focus on Solutions – Once you analyze an area of improvement, move to and stay in the solution. The more time you spend in solution focused thinking, the faster and better your outcomes will be.

5 Take Empowered Action – With each thought and action you take, ask if it is bringing you closer to or further from your goals and dreams. Take those steps that will take you where you want to go.

 

I encourage you to discover how each of these principles work, what makes them so powerful and how you can make the changes that will change your life. The fact is, when you transform your thoughts, you will transcend your life. You will rise above the reasons we worry, doubt, regret, and fear and elevate ourselves to a place of connection with spirit. When we are energetically aligned and live in a state of spiritual synchronicity, we truly will transcend to a place where we can create the life we were meant to live.

Thank You For Being You – My Gratitude Project

As the year ends, many make resolutions for the coming year. Get in better shape, learn a language, spend more time with the family are just a few.

Another New Year tradition I have heard of is selecting a word to focus on and practice. One person told me their word was COURAGE. In a conversation with a friend, she revealed that ELEVATE was her word for the coming year. I love this idea, as I know that to fully absorb a lesson, characteristic or any habit of excellence, you must apply and practice it.

We aren’t born knowing how to walk, talk, write or any other skill. We learn, apply and practice. Yet as we get older, we are busy with what can feel like life’s demands and we look for shortcuts. And we get the results that come when you don’t put in the time to imprint what you learn. Which is why I have so many self-help programs on my shelves. It wasn’t until I took that Tony Robbin’s program, did all the exercises and CONTINUED to practice what I have learned, that I got the promised results.

You see, I love the idea of holding a word or intention in your focus for a prolonged period of time because I know it works.

Repeated action creates a habit. Habits create excellence.

This year I will hold a focus word of GRATITUDE. We know how gratitude will raise our vibrational frequency, keeping our energy in a great state. We know it makes us happier and healthier. We know that when our energy is vibrating at a high frequency, we will attract other high frequency things. For these reasons I have chosen that as one of my focus words for 2016. Yet I don’t want to hold that gratitude in, so I intend to share it through what I am referring to as My Gratitude Project. Please feel free to join me.

Project Gratitude

During the year 2016, it is my intention to have GRATITUDE at the center of my focus. I will take time to appreciate the little things and immerse myself in gratitude for the bigger things as well. I will actively seek to see the reasons I have to be grateful every minute of every day.

It is also my intention to share my gratitude my acknowledging one person a day in public. Most days it will be on social media. Other days, when taking time away from electronics, I will publicly acknowledge my appreciation for another human being.

I am grateful that I have the opportunity to let another soul know how valuable and valued they are.

Today, I start with YOU. Although this may seem generic because it is in a post, if you are reading this, it is definitely written for YOU.

Thank you so much… for all you are and all you have gone through. I know there were many times when it was not easy and even now, it may seem like it should be easier. You are doing great. Actually, you are doing better than great. You have overcome so much and are way stronger than you think you are. Look at all that you have learned and how much you have grown. You really are amazing and so many people need you in their lives. You make a difference with your words, with your actions and just because of the love in your heart. The world is better because you are in it, and I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being you.

7 Steps to Instant Attitude of Gratitude

attitude of gratitudeWhy is gratitude good for us? With an attitude of gratitude, we will achieve success more easily, we will be happy, it contributes to our health and wellness and we have increased life balance. All great reasons, and there is soooo much to be grateful for.

But if we aren’t feeling grateful, how do we get grateful? Hmmmm

Well I’ve got a few good ideas!

1. Gratitude Awareness

Start with gratitude awareness – just be aware that you have many things to be grateful for. That’s a great first step.

2. Gratitude List

A gratitude list is another great way to remind yourself of all that is going right in your life. Remember to add to it often.

3. Draw Gratitude Into Your Heart

How about taking just 5 minutes, setting a timer and sitting someplace quiet while deliberately drawing feelings of gratitude into your heart. This is a very powerful practice that increases your health and over all well-being.

4. Rampage of Gratitude

I LOVE the rampage of gratitude! This is where you don’t just read your gratitude list, you really get into the feelings of gratitude and let the energy of your gratitude super charge you. Look for a blog and a video detailing how to elicit your own rampage of gratitude to be coming soon. This is a secret super power that will really open you to the energy of achieving great success.

5. Share Your Gratitude

You can share your gratitude by offering everyone you meet a smile, performing random acts of kindness or simply giving someone a heart-felt compliment. By sharing with someone that you are grateful to have them in your world, you get super charged with happiness yourself.

6. Send Your Gratitude

When you send your thanks by way of a letter, a note or mailed gift, something special happens for you and the recipient of your kind thoughts. Don’t you agree that there is something really cool about getting personalize mail? It makes us feel special because someone took the time and effort for you. And when you engage in this practice, you have the prolonged effects of feeling good when you send it and every day for the next week while you anticipate the joy you are bringing to someone you care about! Or what about sending anonymous notes to strangers, letting them know that they are pretty great and offering a smile face and kind word?

7. Live in a State of Gratitude

This one takes practice, but once you achieve success in doing so, you may feel like there is a slice of heaven here on earth. And it resides in your heart.

So why not develop an attitude of gratitude and find balance in life, improve your health and overall wellness, find you achieve greater success with less effort and be happier than ever before?

Greater Possibilities

Maybe that is why I love everything about the New Year. It lines up with all my beliefs. That we can always have a fresh start, just by saying we can. That the possibilities for us are greater than we usually realize. And that we can change and have an extraordinary life!

While we can do this any time we choose to, it seems the when the ball drops in Times Square, a door closes on the last 12 months and we are able to look ahead.

So why then, does this new hope and this elated feeling of possibilities seem to fade faster than my tan after a Mexican vacation?

Fuel Your Good Intentions with Passion

It’s because we set goals with good intentions, but they don’t have passion fueling them. The kind of passion that only comes when you are connected to your true purpose.

Think about it for a second. If you are connected with your true purpose, you get really excited, and with that comes passion. We know what we want, we know why we want it and we cannot wait to bring life to our vision. We cannot wait to get up and start doing the things we need to do to bring this dream to fruition. We don’t feel like we are working, we’re just having fun at life. What is that saying, “When you love your work you never work another day in your life!”
